Ah...summer travel

Ah...travel. My family just completed a 2,182 mile road trip from Arkansas to California courtesy the U.S. military. That's six days in two cars with two children under six. We had a great time exploring the western states on our trip and made an uneventful arrival at our new home in California (minus the crack in the windshield). We are working to get settled, find a new home and find the new "favorites" in the area. It's hard to say how long we'll be here, but it is really nice to start a new adventure!

  2. Thanks, Amanda! I spend the first 30 years of my life in the same town. Now moving every three-five years has become a great adventure!

  3. Ah, another military move! My husband's niece just went through the same process in a move from DC to Korea. Sure teaches flexibility! Hope you get situated quickly and find all those favorites that add to the creature comforts of home.

Welcome to California! You and I are 2,182 miles closer than we were before. North or south? Perhaps we will cross paths at a conference or workshop...

    1. Jacqi, finding the new favorites is the best part! And meeting new people is great, too. We are in northern California and very much enjoying our first home without humidity!

  6. Thanks, Kathryn. There may be some humidity here...but it's so much less than the Midwest that we are in heaven!

    1. Debi, your home state is beautiful. We came in through Reno and got to drive through the mountains on the way to our new home. Beautiful!

  9. Thanks for the support, Charlie! Yes, there sure is a lot of excitement...and waiting...for the military family. But we wouldn't have it any other way!

  10. Congratulations on your new move, Heather. You're in my time zone now - except I'm north of you in Canada :)

    1. Thank you, Jana! We are really looking forward to exploring the state. I'm not sure how we'll fit in everything we want to do but we'll try!
